Bollywood Actor Jacqueline Fernandez withdraws application seeking permit to travel abroad

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) Bollywood Actor Jacqueline Fernandez withdrew her application seeking permission to release her passport for travel to Abu Dhabi, UAE, Nepal, and France for 15 days. In this matter, Fernandez is a Sri Lankan national living in India since 2009 and belongs to a Bollywood fraternity and holds a good name in the Bollywood industry. She was investigated by the Directorate of Enforcement in Rs 200 crore extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar and had appeared before the Investigating Agency for questioning in a case registered under the provisions of Money Laundering Act against Sukesh Chandrashekhar and others. Counsel for Fernandez earlier submitted through her application that being a renowned film actor the applicant is invited to events, press conferences, rehearsals and participation in events and without citing any reason the ED has seized the passport of the applicant. Counsel submitted that the applicant is associated with the 'Dabang' show and would represent Bollywood at the Cannes Film Festival and has been invited to participate in the same from May 17, 2022, to May 28, 2022, in France. Counsel submitted that applicant has always appeared for investigation before the Directorate of Enforcement and remains ready and willing to abide by any such conditions that this Court may deem fit to impose. He said after the release of her passport and permission from this Court, the applicant will book tickets and will accordingly submit the detailed itinerary before this Court. Counsel for Jacqueline submitted that the event she had to attend were shifted to the month of June so seeking permission to withdraw the same. UNI XC SY 1603
